Also known as Kamal Gatta Mala, Lotus Seeds Rosary or Lotus Bead Ki Jaap Mala
Kamal Gatta Mala is an essential part of Laxmi Puja, a Hindu festival celebrated during Diwali. The mala comprises 108 lotus seeds, or kamal Gattas, and is used to worship the Goddess of Wealth and Prosperity: Laxmi. Each kamal gatta represents a wish for luck and fortune in the coming year.
The mala is strung together with a red string, which symbolizes Shri Lakshmi’s blessings for health, wealth and prosperity. During Laxmi Puja ceremonies, it is draped around an idol or image of the goddess, while prayers are said to honour her. Kamal Gatta Mala can also be worn as jewellery throughout the year as a reminder to stay blessed and thankful for one’s good fortune.
