About Hyderabad Birla Mandir

The Birla Mandir is one of the most beautiful temples ever built in Hyderabad. This temple was built in 1976 in the Hyderabad neighbourhood of Kala Pahad. One of the temples built by the Birla Foundation is the Birla Mandir, which is for Lord Venkateshwara. It took 10 years to build this temple, which is now one of the most beautiful ones in Hyderabad. Lord Venkateshwara, also known as “Balaji,” is the main god of the Birla Mandir. It is the only shrine in the city made of granite. Every morning at about 5:30, divine mantras are chanted, which makes everyone who hears them feel calm. Listening to the melodies of great singers like “Tyagaraja,” “Annamayya,” and “Ramadas” from the temple, with a beautiful view of the big orange sky in the background, will calm your mind. Every day, there are a lot of tourists and people who live in Hyderabad at the Birla Mandir.

Temple History

The Birla Foundation built this well-known temple in 1976, and Swami Ranganathananda of the Ramakrishna Mission was there when it first opened. Swami Ranganathananda didn’t want bells in this temple because he wanted it to be a good place for meditation. Here, an Oriya-style carving is used to make a statue of Lord Venkateshwara. The building style of the temple is a mix of Utkal (Oriya) and South Indian. The style of the tower over the main temple, called the Jagadananda Vimanam, is Oriya, while the Rajagopuram is South Indian. The Birla Foundation has also built many Birla Mandirs in different cities in India.

Temple Architecture

The Birla Mandir is built on Kala Pahad Hill, which is 280 feet high. This beautiful temple is made entirely from 2,000 tonnes of white marble from Rajasthan. The design of Birla Mandir was based on South Indian and Rajasthani architecture. The four-tiered “Rajagopura” decorating the temple’s top adds to its beautiful charm.

The “Jagadananda Vimanam,” a tower built in the “Orissan” style, can be seen above the main statue of Lord Venkateshwara. The shrines of some of the other idols in the temple also have towers built on top of them, but these towers are built in the style of South Indian architecture. On the marble walls inside the temple, scenes from the great epics “Ramayana” and “Mahabharatha” can be seen. The temple’s flagpole is made of brass and stands 42 feet tall.

Temple Rituals

Most of the rituals at the Birla Mandir are based on the Hindu “Agama Shastras,” especially the “Pancharatra Agama.”

The most important festival at Birla Mandir Temple is Yellamma Kalyanotsavam, which is the wedding of Goddess Yellamma. In the month of Ashada, it is celebrated in a big way.
